TUG

Women ought to be fragile, modest and reluctant to exert themselves…

TUG is a visceral, female-led work about ambition, endurance and the cost of pushing forward.

With women’s sport gaining unprecedented visibility, TUG asks us to look beyond the achievement, the “glamour” and glory and instead at what it takes to get there: rigor, resilience, fighting for space, devastating setbacks and the emptiness at the top.

TUG is a full-length work in development by Erin O’Rourke. It is a further interrogation of her previous work of the same name, created for The Australian Ballet. TUG is also a homecoming; Erin’s first choreographic work since relocating back home to Brisbane. Created with local collaborators, she hopes to premiere TUG in either Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
